Especially for artillery it's good, since enemies getting cluster together, and arty has the slowest reload time among tower classes. Bring artillery, archers, mages around killzone, so they are killing enemies that are occupied fighting your troops. Just cement it with one barracks (sometimes two, no more is usually useful), a hero and add reinforcements there in the fight. Resetting timer makes you use abilities faster! So it's cool to use them before clicking on wave early, a lot of times you'll get two set of reinforcements in a row that way, as cool down will be instant! Rain of fire also decreases it's cooldown as much as early you call next wave. So get used to calling them as early as you get, but instantly calling all of them also a bad idea (unless you're well of experience), you just need to calculate when you call a wave early and not get overwhelmed. Calling a wave early gives you a little money bonus and partially resets cooldown on your abilities (the faster you call it - the more of those you get).

Android version has Gnome Shop where you can buy items for gems (you earn them as you play) that will help you beating the game (though I would recommend trying to do without it). Number 1 for Rain of Fire, 2 are Reinforcements, spacebar is your hero, W for calling a wave early (you can also click on skull at lower-right part of the screen for that). If you're playing Steam version on PC, use keyboard shortcuts to do easier and faster.
